Duranta erecta, commonly known as the golden dewdrop, skyflower, or the pendulum flower, is a shrub that belongs to the genus Duranta in the family Verbenaceae. It is native to tropical America but has been widely cultivated in tropical and subtropical regions around the world.

Its a small to medium shrub with bright green, smooth and leathery ovate leaves that have as lightly wavy margin typically with a light lavender to violet-blue hue, they are borne in drooping, panicle-like clusters, each flower has five petals, with a slightly ruffled edge.

After flowering, the plant produces small, round, and berry-like fruits. These fruits are typically bright orange or yellow in color, and they grow in clusters. The branches are slender and flexible, with green to reddish-brown stems that may become woody over time. They often have fine thorn sor spines, particularly on younger stems.
